ERAS® Implementation Program Assessment (EIP Assess) is a self-directed implementation path for surgical teams that have the clinical confidence — or the internal ERAS® expertise — to lead their own adoption. Encare provides the audit system, the structure, and the official assessment. Your team does the implementation work.
“What is EIP Assess and how is it different from EIP?“
EIP Assess is Encare’s self-directed ERAS® implementation path. Unlike the full EIP — which provides guided coaching from Encare and ERAS® Society Trainers throughout — EIP Assess is designed for teams that are confident implementing ERAS® independently. They receive EIAS onboarding and a formal ERAS® Implementation Assessment at the end, but lead the implementation work themselves. It is eligible for the ERAS® Qualification pathway.
EIP Assess is designed for multidisciplinary surgical teams that do not see a need of guided coaching to implement ERAS®. It is a strong fit when:

You are expanding an existing ERAS® program to a new specialty
Hospitals that have successfully implemented ERAS® in one pathway often want to extend it to others. EIP Assess provides the formal assessment framework to do this efficiently, without repeating the full EIP process.
The process runs over approximately 10–12 months and is structured around two key sessions with Encare, with the team leading implementation independently in between.
Contract administration and access setup to EIAS and tutorials. Your team gets the tools and guidance needed to begin.
Session 1: EIAS Onboarding (online with Encare)
Your team is onboarded to EIAS — the ERAS® Interactive Audit System. You begin collecting pre-ERAS® baseline data (50 pre-ERAS® patient records) and map out your plan of activities for implementation.
Your team implements ERAS® at your own pace — developing data collection methods, progressively starting ERAS® on patients, running team meetings, and following up progress internally. Encare is available for support, but this phase is led by your team.
Session 2: ERAS® Implementation Assessment (online with Encare & ERAS® Trainer)
When your team has registered 20+ ERAS® patients in EIAS and is running ERAS® routinely, you complete a formal assessment with an ERAS® Society Trainer. Results and experience are reported. This is the milestone that opens the path to ERAS® Qualification.
Ongoing use of EIAS for audit and continuous improvement, building toward ERAS® Qualification.
Both paths lead to ERAS® Qualification. The difference is in how much guided support your team needs along the way.
