We would like to congratulate the three ERAS® teams at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, USA, for having reached the ERAS® Qualification in the Colorectal, Liver and Pancreas surgical service lines.
The multidisciplinary team work was led by Dr Andrew DiFronzo, Dr Vikram Attaluri, Nina Wellington as ERAS® Team Performance Improvement Consultant and ERAS® program coordinator Larnita McDaniel. They were trained and coached by ERAS® Society representatives including Prof Tonia Young-Fadok of Mayo Clinic, Prof Olle Ljungqvist of Örebro University, ERAS® nurse Angie Balfour,Edinburgh and Sr Data Mgr Allyson Cochran, Atrium-Carolinas Medical Center.
In becoming an ERAS® Qualified Center, the teams used Encare’s solution, the ERAS® Interactive Audit System (EIAS) for registration, audit and follow up. Through the help of the ERAS® trainers and coaches as well as the EIAS, were able to demonstrate documented and consistent improvements towards the ERAS® Society guidelines, i.e more efficient work processes, multidisciplinary team work, etc – all leading to significantly improved overall patient outcome.
Further, additional service lines within urology and thoracic-lung surgery are being implemented by two different teams, targeting ERAS® Qualification soon.
We wish them continued success in sustaining their good results and spreading ERAS® throughout the organization!
